Nervous Patients
Visiting the dentist can be a daunting experience so we take care to help you overcome your anxiety.
Helping you feel at ease
One way we can help you to overcome your fear is to properly explain your treatment, before it begins and during the treatment itself. If you have any questions or concerns please let us know and we will take extra care to explain things.
Bring your music
Music can be very calming, especially when it’s music you love. This is why we invite you to bring your favourite music along to listen to during your treatment if you feel it will help you to relax.
Bring a friend
Please feel free to bring a friend or family member with you if that will help. For children, the ‘friend’ can of course be their favourite toy, teddy bear, blanket or whatever else may comfort them. Naturally we just need to make sure that whatever they bring won’t inhibit the dentist during the actual check-up or treatment.
Sedation and anaesthesia
If you are especially nervous about dental treatment, or if your procedure is particularly complex or lengthy, intravenous (IV) sedation is an option. So too is ‘The Wand’, new technology that delivers anaesthesia through a slower, less painful way than a traditional syringe. Please let us know in advance of treatment whether these may be of interest so that we can advise you on the benefits, risks and how to prepare for them.
