Retention

Wearing retainers is vital after treatment in order to get the most benefit from your Invisalign investment.

Retainers for long term results

No matter what type of realignment treatment is used, it is highly likely that your straightened teeth will slowly move back towards their initial position. This process can be prevented if you wear retainers after your Invisalign treatment. It is well worth the moderate inconvenience of wearing a retainer as it will get the most from your investment in Invisalign.

The recommended schedule

We would usually recommend that your retainer is worn for most of the day and night, for the first six months or so after the main Invisalign treatment ends. Then for another six months you wear your retainer at night. For most people, it is then recommended that you wear your retainer at night for a few days a week, to counteract the continual shifting of teeth.
